Horse Race

For the card game Horse Race you need a deck of playing cards. Set the aces aside and shuffle the cards. Then build a racetrack as shown below (with 7 random cards and a draw pile).

Each player places a bet in penalty points on a horse (Ace) of their choice. The players then take turns drawing a card from the draw pile. The suit of this card determines which horse may move 1 step forward.

Once all horses have galloped past a face-down card, that card is flipped over. This card determines which horse has to move 1 step back.

Whoever passes the seventh card first and crosses the finish line wins the game. The losers get the winner's penalty points plus their own.
