Spoons

Shuffle a deck of cards and place a number of spoons in the middle of the table. Always use one spoon fewer than the number of players. Choose a dealer who deals 4 cards to each player and puts the remaining pile next to them. The goal of the game is to be the first in a round to collect 4 cards of the same value (e.g. 4, 4, 4 and 4).

The game starts with the dealer, who takes the top card from the draw pile and adds it to their hand. The dealer then picks a card from their hand and slides it along to the next player.

The other players after the dealer take the card passed on by the player before them and slide one along to the next player in turn. The last player in the circle places cards they don't want to pass on onto a discard pile next to them. All of this happens at the same time, which makes the game fast and chaotic.

As soon as a player manages to collect 4 cards of the same value, they may quickly or quietly grab a spoon from the table.

The other players then have to try to grab one of the remaining spoons as fast as possible. The player who fails to get hold of a spoon loses the round and gets 6 penalty points. After each round the roles shift along and the next player becomes the dealer.
